You are never all alone
We all have our own ways of handling hurt, frustration, anger, depression, and loss. Sometimes we are in control, and other times not. Today, I lost a friend to suicide. If you are reading this, and are ever in need of somebody to just listen to you without offering advice/judgment, or somebody to try and help unmuddle stuff in your head, don’t hesitate to ping me. I promise to get back to you as soon as I can. Try and remember this; you are NOT alone.
[svenska]: i eller på eller till
If refering to contents of a box, a bag, etc, ‘i’ is used. e.g.
Vad är i flaskan? (What’s in the bottle?).
[Svenska]: i dag lärde jag mig
Today, I learned that ‘om’ is the prefered preposition to talk about distance in time to a future event. The exercise I did used a sentence ‘De betalar om ett halvår’. I would have used ‘De betalar på ett halvår’ or ‘De betalar i ett halvår’. I saw the comments on the post here, but am not convinced that ‘De betalar i ett halvår’ could be taken to construe ‘They pay for half a year’. Shouldn’t that be ‘De betalar för ett halvår’ instead? I’ll try and ask around!
[Svenska]: Learning Swedish
I’d enrolled myself into Swedish language classes a while ago, but had to miss many classes due to a work related trip abroad, and it was hard to keep up with the rest of the classmates after that, so I’d discontinued the lessons. Now that my wife has arrived in Sweden, I thought it would be a good thing to start brushing up on my Svenska again.
Happy Birthday, Donna!
Here’s wishing Donna aka pondhopper, a very happy birthday! May you continue to bring smiles onto the faces of your many friends, and have a great day and year ahead, in the company of friends and loved ones.
