2025: the year of the uni-stroller

October 31, 2025

It was in August of 2023, that I tried for the first time, to push my son’s stroller, while riding my 24” unicycle, but it was pretty much a one-off experiment, and I didn’t end up doing more of it.

It was early in 2025, that I took it up again. Initially, I was only able to ride with one hand on the stroller handle, with me riding alongside the stroller, rather than behind it, much like I did back in 2023.

As I got more confident, I was able to ride with both hands on the stroller handle, and ride right behind the stroller; this made it easier to push the stroller, and also easier to regulate my speed with that of the stroller. A slight problem though was stopping; riding rigth behind the stroller meant that I could not hop down in front of the stroller, but I needed to always jump off from behind the wheel and catch the wheel as I descended. The video below is from April 2025.

Soon, I was able to take on climbs while pushing the stroller! This was fantastic exercise for my calf muscles.

By August, I was able to ride 10+ km while pushing the stroller, an activity I coined the term ‘uni-strolling’ for.

Uni-strolling is great fun, a way for me to get some much needed exercise, while allowing me to take my son to the nearby park, which is a tad far for a walk, but just right for uni-strolling. I do the 2.5 something kilometers in 15 minutes, which is just perfect, as an hour’s outing translates to half an hour of riding for me and half an hour of playing for my son, at the park. He’s grown to enjoy the stroller rides as much as I like them. I’ve tried uni-strolling with my 29-er, but the 24” uni is what feels perfectly tailor-made, for uni-strolling. As of the end of October 2025, I’ve logged 157 km of rides on my 24” unicycle, and pretty much all of that is uni-strolling with my son :)
