Midsummer ride with Shruti

June 19, 2020

When I’d done a 16 kilometer unicycle ride earlier in the day, I knew that I’d be doing a bike ride with Shruti too, later in the day, so I’d ensured that I’d saved some energy by not riding too long in the hot sun, and that allowed me to enjoy a nice 20 kilometer ride, this time on two wheels, with Shruti, for company.

The weather was still pretty warm, but it had gone down a couple of notches, and the wind was relatively light, so off we went. I decided to take Shruti out on the same route I’d ridden earlier, on a unicycle, so I knew that the surface was great and also that it had a couple of nice views where we could stop to take a few pictures. We rode on Gumpelkullavägen till we hit the turnoff towards Östra Harg and followed the road to Rystad.

The church that stands today in Rystad dates back to 1780, but an earlier version of the church is supposed to have existed from 1200s, as per church documents.

As we continued towards the underpass that took us under E4 to get to Nörrköpingsvägen, the majestic Saab gate guardians consisting of the Saab JA 37 Viggen and the Saab J35 Draken rose into sight. Shruti quickly took some snaps and we continued riding.

Once we had connected with Nörrköpingsvägen, it was a zippy ride along the super-wide bike path all the way to Talboda centrum. It wasn’t long before Shruti caught sight of Linköping’s church spire, and remarked happily that we’d completed another fun ride together.
