Today is Republic Day. Today is also the first day in several years that I have not attended a flag hoisting in person. Though our very own NCST comes under the umbrella of the Ministry of IT, wads and wads of red tape prevent a flag from being hoisted on the campus. Whatever noble intention may be there behind this apparently brainless decision, it smacks of red-tapism, the very demon that needs to be conquered, if we and our beloved nation is to make real progress. Till then, we can listen to political rhetoric on the television and read about it in the newspapers and pursue our hobby of being arm-chair critics, waking up to give a comment every now and then, like today for instance, and going back to our natural slumbering state. Vision 2020 indeed! Sweet dreams!
